French Stay Visit to the Lodge

Once again to our French friends. For the third year running a group from the French Youth Organisation Ligue de l'enseignement de Basse Normandie arrive for their stay at the lodge. This is first of their three groups visiting the lodge this Summer. They left Cannes yesterday, travelling only by public transport. They are here to explore the local area and places of interest in South Wales. Hope you have a good time folks. Espoir vous avez une bonne gens de temps .

At 9:30 this morning our first French visitors of the Summer left on the Number 76 First Cymru bus to Bridgend, to catch the First Great Western train to Bristol in time for the National Bus to London. There they’ll stay for 2 days before heading back to France.

A busy time was had during their stay. Via a First Cymru Rover ticket their visited Cardiff, Swansea, Porthcawl, Blaengarw and the Bridgend Show in Pencoed. The boat ride from Cardiff Bay to Penarth being one their highlights. Many local walks were taken, Bryngarw Country Park being a favourite. One of the Garw valley designated walks was one of their more adventurous activities which they started with great enthusiasm but was unfortunately cut short due to the typical Welsh Summer weather!

Despite the weather they all had a lovely Welsh holiday and all at the Village Lodge loved they company and it was a pleasure having them stay with us. A few new international friendships were forged with some local young people.
